Liesel is a newcomer to Willow Island. She is a young girl with long auburn hair. She loves swimming and in fact she can breathe underwater, and her fingers, when in the water become webbed, giving her extra speed. When she is on land she walks or runs normally. She sleeps in a hammock stretched between two trees and loves the gentle movement of it in the breeze. Her companion is a flying female turtle, Tara, who is sometimes her form of transport.

In common with the other residents of Willow Island she can converse by telepathy or verbally also transport herself by thought transference. She can also change the size of things. These last accomplishments are not shared by the usual sea creatures: dolphins, seals, turtles, manatees, penguins and others.

Liesel is very concerned with the pollution of the planet and is determined that Willow Island be kept clear from its damage. The fisher folk in Haven have an arrangement, to keep the water clear from rubbish, with the fish. However beyond the rim outside the beaches it is a different story and Liesel has a big job preventing floating detritus from flowing in there.

She knows Aquiey and Helena but is more frequently seen in company with Lock the Arborer. They both find their choice of bedding, hammocks, very comfortable.
